Headwaters Benefit: Joanne Rand CD Release with opener Rex Richardson

Rogue Valley residents will have an opportunity to feast their ears on the psychedelic-folk-revival sound of singer-songwriter Joanne Rand on Thursday, May 15th at the Standing Stone Brewery (101 Oak St., Ashland).  The show, a benefit for Headwaters, is a CD Release Concert for Rand’s seventh album, Into the River.

Opening the night and accompanying Joanne will be virtuoso guitarist and singer songwriter Rex Richardson from the remote Siskiyou Mountains of Northern California.  With the release of Into the River, Rand has relocated her home to the wild Siskiyous as well.  Her wilderness home shines through in her music.

A noted West Coast performer, born and raised a Southerner and referred to as “nothing short of brilliant,” by the Santa Rosa, CA Press Democrat, Rand has again proven herself as one of the nation’s finest songwriters.  Into the River features 14 songs recorded by six great musicians in Berkeley’s historic Fantasy Studio.  With sirenic voice, a mastery of guitar and piano, and a treasure trove of talented backup musicians, Rand takes listeners on a buoyant and rhythmic journey that keeps us on our toes, always moving, changing, breathing, dancing, ultimately leaving us with hope and joy.

The May 15th Joanne Rand CD Release Party with Rex Richardson will start at 8 p.m.  Tickets may be purchased for $10 at the door of the Standing Stone Brewery.  For more information, contact Headwaters at 482-4459.
