ACADEMY AWARD NOMINATED DOCUMENTARY "THE COLLECTOR OF BEDFORD STREET" TO BE SCREENED AT ASHLAND INDEPENDENT FILM FESTIVAL!
ASHLAND ----The Ashland Independent Film Festival (AIFF) is excited toannounce that the Academy Award nominated short subject, "The Collector of Bedford Street,"will be presented at the Festival, which runs April 3-7, 2003, at the Varsity Theatre.
"The Collector of Bedford Street" is a short documentary film that takes an intimate look at Larry Selman, the filmmaker's 60-year-old neighbor who has mental retardation. Larry is one of New York City's finest collectors for charities, but eventually has to rely on the charity of others. The film humanizes the story behind the abstract statistics of mental retardation, shedding light on how a community comes together out of love and respect for a simple man.
Filmmaker Alice Elliott has been invited to attend the Festival and participate in post-screening dialogue sessions with the audience. She has not confirmed at this time whether she will attend.
